As part of its work to advance organized philanthropy, Ohio Grantmakers Forum has developed the Ohio Common Grant Forms (OCGF), a series of documents that can streamline grantseeking, grantmaking and reporting.

Why should foundations use the Ohio Common Grant Forms? Because they:
Provide more complete, consistent information from grantseekers, reducing the time funders spend seeking additional information from incomplete proposals;

  • Allow an “apples to apples” comparison of grant requests;

  • Result in better, more complete – but usually not more – proposals that are easier to read and evaluate; and

  • Eliminate duplicative effort in collaborative funding activities.

All forms are provided as Microsoft Word documents that can be downloaded to a computer, allowing grantseekers to type responses directly into the form. The fill-in-the-blank forms are MAC and PC compatible.

Questions? Plan to use the forms?
If your foundation decides to use the forms or if you have questions, please email Jill Young

If you are a grantseeker:
Please keep in mind that every funder has different geographic restrictions, guidelines and priorities, as well as different deadlines and timetables. Funders also have adopted different Common Forms to suit their particular needs. Before submitting an application to a potential funder, it is very important that you check to see whether your project or program matches their published interests and what form(s) they accept. Any funder that has agreed to accept these forms may request additional information as needed.

Currently, the following funders are using one or more of the nine Ohio Common Grant Forms or using the common questions in their online applications. Please contact the funders directly to see what forms, if any, they currently accept.
