In general, membership in Ohio Grantmakers Forum is open to grantmaking foundations or corporate giving programs that make grants to multiple recipients in Ohio.  Appropriate candidates for membership can include private and family (independent) foundations, community foundations, grantmaking public charities and corporate foundations and giving programs that meet the following requirements:
  • Community foundations subsidized by endowments and a broad group of contributors

  • Company foundations or corporations with a grantmaking program

  • Independent foundations, including family foundations, sustained by an endowment or a limited constituency of unsolicited contributions

  • Operating foundations endowed to operate charitable programs determined by donor or governing body

  • Public foundations/charities with a substantial grantmaking program. Public charities that are not community foundations--including supporting organizations -- should have at least 30 percent of grantmaking budget comprised of direct grants to multiple organizations, not including amounts paid to subsidiary chapters or organizations nor allocations to pre-selected grantee organizations (as in federated funds), and funding sources which are primarily private rather than public governmental.
